EIKEN SUPPORT
Are you ready for the Eiken test?
I’m sure you have bought a lot of books and searched online for information about how to take the test, but I am also sure you have realized that the best investment is talking to someone who has experience.
I have been teaching Eiken exam technique for many years, with a high success rate for my students.
EXAM REQUIREMENTS
One of the keys to success is being able to understand what is expected in the test – what the examiner is looking for.
The Eiken interview has specific language requirements that vary depending on the level.
The requirements for level 3 compared to 2 are quite different, for example.
At level 3, the focus is on intention:
What is the man going to do? -> He’s going to read a newspaper.
(going to future)
At level 2.5, the focus is on current activity with a knowledge of phrasal verbs:
What are the people doing? -> A boy is eating ice cream. A girl is walking her dog. A boy is parking his bike. A women is opening a parasol. A man is taking off his jacket.
(present simple continuous / phrasal verbs)
At level 2, the focus is on narration:
Describe the situation -> One day, Mr. Sato was asked something in English by a customer at his bookstore. He said to the customer, “I don’t understand English.” A few seconds later, a worker at the store talked to the customer in English for him. Mr. Sato felt a little embarrassed that he could not help the customer himself. One week later, Mr. Sato started attending an English language class. He hoped that he would be able to speak with customers in English in the future.
(past simple / past simple continuous / past perfect)
EXAM INTERVIEW TECHNIQUE
Timed practice examinations give students a realistic idea of the timing constraints placed on students during the exam.
Practicing the Interview section is also a great way to help reduce nervousness and give students a better chance at scoring well.
I have spent many years researching the best way to help students
understand the basic fundamental skills which are necessary to meet these expectations, and pass the test successfully.
Each year, I help a number of students pass the Eiken test. I look forward to helping you also achieve your goals.
If you are interested, why not take a trial lesson where we can talk more about your expectation and goals for the future?
